Zurita viene del lado experimental drone-ambient bajo otros pseudonimos, su vida Dj comienza allá por 2001 en algunas fiestas caseras y fechas clandestinas. Siempre interesado por el sampling (comprador compulsivo de vinilos baratos de exotica, cumbia, boogaloo etc), genera sus primeros remixes.
Al principio , en el 2004, sus primeros remixes fueron netamente influenciados por el movimiento de Hip Hop “Native Tongues” (utilizando el sample como escudo y acapellas como espada), eso abre el horizonte y en 2006 comienza experimentar con sus discos de Cumbia y Latin Soul hasta lograr sus propias producciones, ejecutadas por gente como Toy Selectah , Scotty B , Oro 11, Paul Devro, Dj Rupture, Chancha Via Circuito, Sonido Martines, etc Como resumen de sonidos y generos sale “The Great Cumbia Swindle” juntando viejos tracks de cumbia, ragga, miami bass hasta drone japones.
Zurita comes from an experimental drone-ambient background and known under different pseudonyms his Dj life started in 2001 in house parties and clandestine clubs. Beeing really into sampling (compulsive buyer of vinyl records of Exotica, Cumbia, Boogaloo etc) he started making his own remixes.
In 2004 when his first started remixing, he was influenced by the “Native Tounges” hip hop movement (using the sample as a shield and acapellas as sword). This opened up the horizon and in 2006 he started experimenting with his Cumbia and Latin soul records and came to make his own productions, wich was picked up by people like Toy Selectah , Scotty B , Oro 11, Paul Devro, Dj Rupture, Chancha Via Circuito, Sonido Martines etc.
As a summary of sounds and genres comes “The Great Cumbia Swindle” bringing together old Cumbia tracks, Dancehall, Miami Bass and even Japanese Drone.
